SPOTLIGHT SERIES
The purpose of this Spotlight Series is to analyse how gender identity and sexual orientation impacts migratory issues in different countries. This will be explored through a blog post every few weeks which focuses on the situation in a particular country, thereby shining a 'spotlight' on the specific issues faced in that country. For example, this might include how members of the LGBTQIA+ community are fleeing a country due to the persecution that they face. Another example could be how LGBTQIA+ migrants are treated in the host state. We will have a webinar on the issues raised in the blog posts at a later point.

Activities of the United Nations
concerning Migration and Forced Migration
In 2020, on occasion of the United Nations' 75th anniversary, the Network for Migration Matters decided to study the activities of the United Nations related to migration and forced migration.
We published various articles that explored the topics of: the history of the United Nations, climate displacement, the UN Restitution Mandate and Returnees, the UNODC and Human Trafficking, Soft Law and Quasi Judicial Mechanisms, and the Global Compact on Refugees.
We will continue to publish articles concerning the activities of the United Nations as they can be a source of inspiration and guidance for the implementation of projects around the globe that seek to provide aid to migrants, refugees, displaced and stateless persons.
